Onyx in Ahmedabad Where stone becomes light

Born in darkness, deep beneath the earth, onyx emerges into the light — only to become a passage through which light itself can shine.

A masterpiece shaped by nature, carrying within every layer the beauty of time, mystery and transformation. Onyx — where stone becomes light.

What makes onyx special?

Onyx is a banded, crystalline stone formed from mineral-rich water, much like travertine, but far denser and more translucent. Light passes through it, so when a slab is backlit with LED panels the veins and crystal layers glow from within. No other natural stone creates quite the same effect.

Because of that, onyx is used where it will be seen and admired: backlit feature walls, bar fronts, reception counters, vanity tops, bathtub surrounds, staircases and table tops. At Stonedge we supply baby pink onyx, blue onyx and black onyx, and we help plan the lighting, panel sizes and joints so the finished piece glows evenly.

Backlighting onyx properly

For an even glow the slab needs uniform LED panels set a short distance behind it, and the onyx is usually bonded to clear glass or a resin mesh for strength. We plan panel sizes, cable routes and access for maintenance with your lighting designer before cutting, so seams fall where they look intentional.

Price & care

Price factors and care

Onyx is a premium stone: price depends on the colour, translucency, slab size and the backing and lighting work required. It is softer than granite or quartzite, so it is best used on walls and low-traffic surfaces rather than busy kitchen counters. Seal after installation, use coasters and pH-neutral cleaners, and wipe spills quickly to keep the polish bright.

Good to know
